The Home in the Winter
Cheerful and lightly Heidi and her grandfather “Alpöhi” are sledging from the alp down to the Dörfli. In the winter Heidi lives here in this house together with “Alpöhi”. Every morning Heidi attends school and teaches Peter to read.
When the sunshine hours become shorter, temperatures drop and the whole landscape is buried under a white layer of snow, then winter has come. Winter is the coldest and darkest time of the year. The trees are now bare, and the ground is frozen. In the 19th century, winter was not only associated with romantic sledge rides, but also presented the inhabitants of the Dörfli with great challenges. Find out more in the next room.
